Thursday, September 20, 2007

Front row seats – close enough to toss a peanut and hit David Eckstein – which someone apparently tried to do. The peanut landed for shie of its target, however.

During the entire game, a row of white-haired clip-on-earrings grannies watched the game in great excitement. Every time a play was missed or a ball lost, it was:

Well, shoot!”

Oh my goodness!”

For their genuine enthusiasm for the game, the Cardinals beat the Phillies two to one in the bottom of the tenth.

Thursday morning, Puck was busy eating Collette’s calculator.
