Powwow and fry bread

There are patches of grape jelly smeared all around the floor in unexpected places in the morning... no one admits... just like no one admits to the various grease stains on the living room ceiling or the spots of blue paint on the crown molding,.. or the... well actually, yes, Yali did admit to the rollerblade-wheel-sized hole in the hallway wall...

Meanwhile Patience – who was vomiting big time before bedtime the previous evening after accidentally swallowing mouthwash – her face is speckled with constellations of red spots from all the blood vessels bursting in her face over the exertion (though this is not an uncommon response)...

Before bussing Patience to the studio for two hours of class... book her and Oxbear's feis weekend to Oklahoma in two weeks... also spend a little time reviewing all the oddities from the kids' past DNA reports... still wondering how Yali is somehow "more" Japanese than Colombian... and how Puck is more Colombian than Yali... and how Patience is 4.6% Jewish...

After delivering Puck to a six-hour shift at work...

...over to Washington University for their 35th annual powwow... Yali's not feeling the crowd... but when the drums start thundering he becomes a little intrigued... earth-shaking drums... but Patience is the one fascinated by the fabrics and beads and feathers and paint and the princess... runs over to ask one of the staff about videoing the dancing (it's fine as long as we only film them dancing and not preparing their wardrobes)... then runs out to the blanket spread in the center of the arena with some thank you cash for the drummers... makes a beaded purchase from one of the vendors... and runs down from the bleachers to join the other kids in collecting candy spread on the floor as a gift from the Head Man → J. WolfLeader... busy gal... grab us all some hot fry bread at intermission (so good)... depart some three hours later...

Night sinks in as yellow moon rises...
