Puck's Dinosaurs

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Under the rain of a fresh Wednesday morning, Puck had cut an eleventh tooth. He amused himself listening to Riverdance stuffing in and dumping out Collette’s colored pens from the Coca-Cola thermos from OLeif’s and Collette’s cruise ship in the Caribbean.
Across the big blue, Carrie and Lucia were anticipated to have safely been in London for several hours.
While Joe was at Green Lantern, Collette, Rose, and Puck spent their morning running various errands to two banks, the library, Target, and O’Charley’s. At Target, Rose bought Puck a fat rubber triceratops, which he examined on the ride to O’Charley’s (where Rose applied to work).
Word from Iowa was that they were going to visit a family-run dairy farm that afternoon and watch them make butter. Then a bike ride to historic sites followed by a possible trip to the Iowa State Fair, if Dad was in the mood for it after a long day of work.
At home that evening, Collette prepared the untraditional pancakes and scrambled eggs with cheese dinner while Puck watched hungrily from his high chair.
“Sorry, baby,” Collette told him, “no buttery pancakes for you.”
She consoled him with dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets, spring peas, and frozen strawberries. He was very gratified.
