Puck's Doings

Collette had more dreams that night about fields and wind, green groves and paths, great thunderstorms at night before the kids went singing at a choir concert… other things. And as usual, they left her with the same feeling. It was rare now that she had dreams that didn’t possess that indescribable feeling.

Meanwhile, OLeif had returned the night before at 1:30am from several hours downtown with the youth and more late-night work at NAWS. He had also spent Monday evening with the youth. Wednesday afternoon he had met Alfonso Candles at Burger King and walked him around the NAWS building. After talking with Wallace it was decided that he would soon be hired to work under OLeif which would greatly help.

Puck was having a difficult time napping that afternoon. After awhile, Collette brought him in his bouncy seat into the office while she worked on the computer. Puck was all bundled in his blanket looking around the orange room with wide pale blue eyes.

Shhhh, Puck. Go to sleep,” she would whisper occasionally to him.

Puck just smiled bashfully at her.

Collette and Puck spent part of their afternoon on the front porch watching traffic pass. It was a slow pastime, but Puck seemed very interested. He either stared in deep concentration at his kicking feet as he sat in his mom’s lap. Or he would follow the cars, turning his head as they went by – particularly the red ones.

That evening, OLeif and Puck went on a shopping trip to pick up a pizza and other groceries. Puck seemed to enjoy his time with his dad.

They had another conversation before he went to bed that night. He sat on OLeif’s lap, facing him, in his little monkey pants, and tried to imitate sounds. When OLeif and Collette sang their song for him, Puck’s face lit up. He smiled throughout the whole song and tried his best to add to the tune.

Such a fun baby.
