Quiet Days
Saturday, August 19, 2006
Saturday was even quieter than Friday. Reading, washing dishes, washing laundry, running errands, the library for an old film, mostly gray skies…
Later that afternoon OLeif was off for an evening of barbecue and swimming in Lake St. Louis with the youth for a mission trip participant gathering.
Meanwhile, Collette wondered if Cousin Polly had received the illusive engagement ring. Perhaps the Latino lawyer had changed his mind and decided to give her one after all (despite its material-ness), perhaps when she visited him in China. If Polly was really going to be married the following year, she would be 27 by the time she tied the knot. The Black side of the family seemed to marry somewhat later. Jashub was 28 and had no particular interests as far as Collette knew. Brit had been 28 as well when he was married.
And Travis was to graduate from his training in California in a little over a month. Bristol, who had applied to and been accepted by the United States Air Force, was currently driving a giant forklift for a living until he would receive appointment.
