Return of Spring

Friday, February 6, 2009

Puck’s little second cousin, Liselotte, was two years old that day. It was a good day to turn two. Temperatures were almost balmy. Collette didn’t even need to wear her sweater after coming out of Target that morning, despite the few mounds of snow and patches of ice still seen here and there. It was spring, in February.
Because Puck had accidentally finally been able to smash Collette’s favorite plate at breakfast that morning, OLeif suggested that it was time to arrange a purchase of plastic dishes for the little fellow. So Collette found a set of red and a set of black melamine square bowls and square plates. Success.
The afternoon was so nice, that Carrie-Bri climbed the roof to remove the Christmas lights, and was briefly accompanied by a very enthusiastic Puck to watch the sky for several minutes at the top of the ladder.
He watched for airplanes, talked to Rose who hung out her bedroom window to call at the cats, and stomped through the squishy mud. It was a good day in Puckland.
