The world was still a rained-in green garden under covered sky.
It was a slow-going morning, which Collette didn’t mind all that much, because she was still getting her bearings from the blow-out of the last five days, which included another spout of coughing in the four o’clock of the morning hour.
Puck flopped around the house in Collette’s hiking socks.
He composed a note to the “mail lady” on red paper…
Thank you
for the
lollipops. You
are very
nice.
Love, Puck
He followed this by choosing the mystery flavor lollipop…
“Let’s guess what this is, Mama,” he said, taking his first lick of the blue hard candy. “There’s nothing vegetable green… um, blue… So I guess! I guess it’s a new vegetable! A new fruit!”
When he was administered a session of “sitting out” for various dis-respectable reasons…
“Mama? Could I have Quiet Hour and Corner Time at the same time?”
Sly dog.
OLeif returned in time for another family-together attempt at brightly colored bird animation and pillow-popcorn. Puck camped out on OLeif’s lap as the two boys giggled together.
