Saturday and Sunday

And so Friday had finished with Carrie and Collette looking over college papers and discussing a good many things while Mom and Dad took the little ones to a park with a mishap or two, including a lady police officer. But it was soon forgotten in the getting of pizza and the lazy sun of the late afternoon.

Even the sun that day could not quite entirely bother Collette. It was then they arranged to go to the movies, although Carrie-Bri had to work – OLeif, Collette, Joe, and Rose, with youth group pals and friends, including Curly (with a broken foot), Israel, and Theodore. It was “Sahara” they saw, a relatively close-runner of an even more modern-day “Indiana Jones” – Collette enjoyed it.

And afterward, Samantha Bee wanted to play arcade games, so she and Rose worked on several rounds of skeeball and air hockey, while OLeif, Joe, and the Coca-Cola boys played wild west ski-jet bits, although Joe was disappointed in the serious lack of race car games.

Finally it was on to Taco Bell for cinnamon twists, sodas, and whatever Mexican food one could scrounge up at eleven o’clock. It was a long evening, but enjoyable, nevertheless.

And despite it all, Collette was feeling slightly sick, likely from the lack of fruit over the past couple of days, but nevertheless – ill. Sometimes she thought it was because there was so much going on, she hardly had time to think and gather it all in. Since she had been married, time had rushed past, and each week seemed to go by faster than the one before it.

Sundays were busy days, but they were still good. Burrito buffet for lunch and a lazy hour of sunshine up in the tree house, while Carrie and Collette attempted to solve the Great Mystery. Finally Carrie seemed to make a bit of a break-through, as Collette dozed off and Francis and Linnea splashed a great lake in the sandbox with the hose. Collette decided to look the whole matter over, page by page, on Monday when her work was done.
