Scrabble Day

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Once again it was OLeif’s birthday, now 23, Eve’s (nineteen), and Wally’s (eighteen). OLeif was out hiking the Appalachian trail at the senior high youth retreat before departing for Nashville. Also on their schedule had been whitewater rafting. The restaurant located at their bunking quarters was apparently four-star and grew its own herb garden.

Meanwhile, Collette, Linnea, and Puck were home for the day. Linnea worked on picking up buckets of rocks from the back yard, a commission handed her from OLeif several weeks before the work began. There were a few games of Scrabble around housework for Collette. And Denae swung by for awhile to fix up curtains for Puck’s room and the study while Puck napped into the afternoon.

It was another quiet day… until Puck decided to make a huge baby mess right at the end of his 9:30 bottle that night. Linnea helped Collette by holding open a large plastic bag for Collette to scoop the mess (including his outfit, washcloth, etc.) inside. Puck, as usual, only thought this was hysterical and smiled widely at both of them during the procedure. But in recompense for his baby crimes, he slept eight hours that night with not so much as a whimper.
