Scrapes & Scythes

Sunday, June 5, 2005

Collette put on her new skirt from Carrie-Bri. It was beautiful, as though it had just been sent over from the spiced and gilded halls of Morocco, where Muslim chants and vendors’ cries were still heard in the market below.

At church that morning, Susie Plum managed to rock her chair forward enough to collapse it and fall flat on her backside, chaffing her neck on the edge of the table in the process. After a few tears, she had forgotten the incident and returned in time for singing with Mrs. Swiss and the rest of the gang.

And back at the Silverspoon’s for lasagna, OLeif and Curly were struck with an ingenious idea and commenced to hack molded French bread into pieces with scythes, (which Curly had bid on at the Buckaroo auction), and throw them at one another on the back deck.

And at the house, Dad and Joe (in his new cool jeans), played kickball with the kids before Joe left for youth group.
