Over at the house…
Carrie had left a pretty amazing chocolate cookie dough bundt cake in the fridge.
Linnea was using Collette’s old letter stamp set to send off notes to Cherry in pink, glittering red, and glittering gold.
And, while Carrie-Bri had been out the previous evening as Mom’s fashion consultant, clothes shopping, they had picked up something for Collette — a green shirt with the skull and crossbones, which was standard dress for the ‘Saint Louligans’, the fan group for AC STL.
Francis was busy rumbling Joe’s blue-lit battery-powered back massager in Rose’s desktop sandbox for Puck, which was not exactly a quiet endeavor…
And Carrie presented a TEDTalk involving a musician who wrote songs to the lyrics of old, obscure poems.
And the white board read:
-
chicken
-
sweet potatoes
-
cupcake liners
-
pitas
-
Cheerios (not honey nut) — that was from Dad
-
box of printer paper
Meanwhile…
Rose had finally discovered that her last official day of her contract was October 3rd, though her last day of work would be the 1st. And she anticipated a refreshing break before coursing into the next one.
During math, Francis had shown Collette the bloody remains of the frisbee injury that had been left above his left eye after choir on Tuesday.
Lunch was a sort of chicken, bacon, and cream cheese stuffed pastry, another Carrie-creation. Always inventive, Carrie-Bri Snicketts…
When it was Linnea’s turn for math, things were going a little slowly, perhaps due to the fact that she was methodically eating tiny bullet-shaped ice cubes out of an ice cream parlor glass with chopsticks.
Then they discussed Linnea’s birthday party plans and further information regarding the Bahamas in January.
In the afternoon, as the skies filled with shades of gray in the west, there were a few errands to be run, and so after swinging Joe by school to drop off his art project: sports emblems for the hypothetical modern St. Louis Olympic Games… further birthday party plans were discussed with Joe’s input as possible games and entertainment coordinator…
“So all I’d have to say is, ‘Gossip!’ ‘Lipgloss!’ and toss glitter into the air, and they’d be just fine,” he said with a grin, despite his headache.
After a hasty return, and dinner, it was time for Puck’s very first experience at children’s choir. As the rain lit lightly over the fields and the wind blasted in under violet skies…
He was at first a little hesitant to join the other children seated on the blue carpet, as he walked in carrying a little can of tomato sauce for the food drive. But then he settled in as they made a ring to sing songs with Isabella Swiss. And especially after he had joined hands with Anneliese who had brought with her a little bottle filled with fuzzy balls in bright colors and animal patterns.
It was a quiet two hours in the silent sanctuary for Collette… the glow of blue rain in the skies over dark green fields…
In the end, Puck left with a bag of peanuts, a good metaphorical report card, and enthusiasm to return again.
Meanwhile, back home, OLeif was entertaining his pals over chicken and pineapple shishkabobs and raspberry bars.
