September 16th
That morning, Puck asked if he might do the usual:
“Wake up Daddy? Wake up Daddy?” he asked cheerfully from his crib.
Collette consented, and went out to the kitchen to prepare his usual breakfast bowl of oatmeal.
Puck followed her out several minutes later, wearing her track shoes.
“I wear Mamma’s green shoes!” he squeaked triumphantly.
And also as usual, Puck seemed to down another banana in record-breaking time.
“You finished that whole banana already?” Collette asked him.
“Banana’s all gone in the mouth,” Puck said with a grin.
Then he went on to his usual conversations:
“I scare Daddy’s laundry.”
“I don’t look at sun.”
“Sing ‘Waltzin’ ‘Tilda’!”
Over at the house, between schoolwork, Francis had propped up his go-cart on two folding chairs in the garage and was on his back underneath it, making inspections.
And for lunch, he set up Donald Duck for Puck to watch throughout his meal.
Later, when Francis went back to wake up Puck from his nap for the afternoon, it was discovered that instead of sleeping, Puck had snatched one of Rose’s tank tops and a pair of Linnea’s shorts, and had put them on to wear, albeit somewhat haphazardly.
Later on, Collette picked up Linnea from gymnastics before she and Puck hit home for the day. She had just passed on to the next level of classes.
That evening, OLeif baked a pan of chocolate chip cookies before leaving to meet with Justus of Orange over coffee to learn about his trip to Japan.
