Four-thirty in the morning brought the rain. And… intense amounts of sinus pressure.

Four days and back out into the world. Life with one car had become increasingly interesting that year…

When arrived at the house, the usual things were afoot. Carrie was already preparing for the kitchen duties, with Puck to help. Marinating meat for tomorrow’s birthday dinner, piecing together tarts with plum butter for lunch, kneading out the challah bread, also for the birthday dinner, etc., etc.

Uh oh,” said Carrie. “You should have seen Puck’s face when I showed him the meat. He was in awe. You know that used to be something’s leg,” she said to him.

Puck was unconcerned and left shortly later to wash his trike and go-cart on the driveway, while Francis tinkered with his ‘big guy’ go-cart.

Chili and Johnny Quest over lunch before Mom and Francis left for choir camp and the parents’ meeting.

Meanwhile, OLeif had been making a hopeful attempt to negotiate for his lunch with Collette online…

OLeif: They are going to “IRON BARLEY” for lunch today It’s the BBQ place here in STL that Man vs. Food was raving about…

Francis, acting as Collette: Spend all the money you want there.

OLeif: …? That doesn’t sound like you. Did someone steal your soul?

The day was over nearly as soon as it had started. Mom and Carrie were in a flurry to run errands before meeting Rose downtown. Linnea was at choir camp for choir and the ice cream. And OLeif was out with Shepherd for the evening.

Right at 6:30, Collette heard the first rumble of thunder in the west… And then the light show. Pretty magnificent, really. Crawling up across the sky. Brilliant.

Nearing nine o’clock, Joe arrived with a box of Wheat Thins and a Sunkist for Collette, for some laughs on Netflix, followed not long later by OLeif, and things wrapped up about forty-five till midnight.
