Another quiet one at home… at least for the morning.

It was, of course, into the 90’s that day, which made for a sticky situation for visitors from South Africa wishing to sight-see. However, the report flowed back in increments throughout that day that he was at least able to visit the Science Center, accompanied by a viewing of Hubble at the Omnimax, and was then taken to The Arch, and Blueberry Hill for lunch, before returning to the home — the house that Carrie’s friends from Croatia and Serbia had once labeled ‘a mansion’.

In the afternoon, Collette turned on some of the old Classical stash of music. Puck listened for awhile to one particular piece.
“What is this music made of, Mama?” he asked.
“Trumpets.”
“Ohhhh…”

Meanwhile, back home, Luke arrived once again in the early afternoon. Leia had taken with a cold and would stay with her mother. But Puck and Luke readily began their three hours together with a box of matchbox cars. Followed by some reads on the couch, with Collette doing all the voices… until Luke triggered a yawn-fest that inspired some out-of-doors play.
So off to a walk around the neighborhood in the ruffling warm winds, which were plentiful, as the boys found gravel and bits of black tar to through down the ‘dream’ (a.k.a. ‘drain’), as Puck called it.

OLeif returned for the evening under golden skies and more winds to treat Collette to a midnight-truffle blizzard and a Danish-Chinese film: Kinamand.

And Collette came to the conclusion by the end of the evening that perhaps she ought not to handle flame again. Not only had she forgotten that she had left a candle burning on the top of the piano for the last seven and a half hours, but she had, once again, allowed the carrots to burn on the stove… the distraction of too many writing projects was usually to blame. Not unlike that unforgettable time she had found herself centimeters away from being responsible for having burned down the entire house back in high school… o, the memories…
