Sick Day
It was another sick day for OLeif. Not only was he sick.
The basement was tossing up all water from every facet of the house. So OLeif went back to bed and called Roto Rooter. Meanwhile, Collette shipped Puck off to his grandma’s house. Mom, Carrie, and Joe came to collect him just as the sleet came in. They arrived with a bag of Pepto Bismol tablets, white tea, nasal spray, oscillicocinum, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide for the basement, and a plate of Krispy Kreme donuts for Collette.
“OLeif and the house both have a sick day,” Mom said from the car window, as they backed out of the driveway.
“Yeah!” Joe called back. “They’re both throwing everything up!”
And with a whirl of autumn leaves, they drove off down the road.
By later in the afternoon, OLeif was beginning to recover under a bundle of blankets and fresh air from the open window. And Puck was brought back after a happy afternoon of napping and playing in front of the fire with his aunts.
