Spring has Sprung

Spring had nearly arrived, and it was chilly.
Over at the house, Rose’s hair was very dark from her Sunday dye, which she hid under her rainbow knit cap all morning while doing her studies. With “Last of the Mohicans” and “Gladiator” blasting over iTunes, she spent part of those hours composing an essay under Collette’s guidance concerning the years of her “dork-dom”, which she claimed spanned. Collette decided by the end of the morning that they would have to review the essay the following day and consider a number of revisions.
Carrie went off to work at her new time, having been given the less-appealing shift of ten o’clock to seven, because she was still the new girl. She also had news about Lucia. She was currently sporting a new tattoo on her arm: her name, spelled the “gangster” way, as Lucia liked to inform everyone.
“And she was telling people this while she was all dressed nice and in that pink shirt she wore to your shower…” Carrie rolled her eyes.
And that was typical Lucia. She was a goof ball.
Meanwhile, Francis and Linnea spent their morning break out in the back yard constructing a fort of tarps near the old falling-apart tree house.
The rain came with the afternoon as Joe and Rose left for choir in the big green slug.
Later, on the way to pick up Rose from choir, Mom took Collette, Francis, and Linnea by The Robin’s Nest (her favorite new store in Cottleville). Inside was Mom’s paradise, which also happened to include vast collections of chunky animals – ceramic bunnies, sheep, chickens, and other fat creatures which Rose would love. Francis and Linnea spent twenty minutes pointing out all of the figurines that she would particularly enjoy.
“Oooh, evil bunny,” Francis pointed to a small rabbit figurine on a shelf. He chuckled, “Look, it has fangs.”
And Linnea giggled over a garden flag printed with the image of a mammoth chicken with a tiny head. By the time Francis had started dive-bombing little ceramic butterflies and propelling sparkling easter eggs through the air (held on to tightly, of course), it was time to get Francis to choir and to pick up Rose.
The rest of the afternoon consisted of slushies at QT (at Rose’s and Linnea’s request), Rose putting on her make-up from the back seat looking in the mirror above Collette’s seat (this was typical) before going in to work at The Columns, Mom making a several small purchases in Old Saint Charles (which included a small bag of toffee-covered peanuts), and drive back in the rain.
And Carrie-Bri reported that once Eve returned from Disney World, they would discuss the purchase of plane tickets again for Australia, which might actually include a smaller flight to northern Australia to hike the rain forest country. And supposedly Joe, Wally, and Curly were still all in the pre-preparations of making plans for Hawaii.
