Stomping onward
Smoky dawn... prelude to a warm day...
KTVI Channel 2 by eight-fifteen that morning... eight dancers wait for their time slot while visiting with a shelter dog named “Baja Blast” and chomping on Dunkin' Donuts, discussing spring break plans for places as diverse as Utah and Hawaii... then all slick in black and royal blue for a quick live segment with TV personalities Tim and Chelsea...
Home for about an hour – where Oxbear and Yali are returning from another appointment – to assist Puck with muscle group work-out plan ideas while clearing dishes and Puck replaces both busted air vents in the living room for me... he also brings out the completed disco ball welding helmet for J... looks so cool...
TV spot number three is taped at the studio for KSDK's “Show Me St. Louis” segment... arrive to dance bags and Chick-fil-A clutter scattered everywhere... the segment is quick and everyone cooperates... while parents chat in the lobby about all the school their daughters are missing... and they don't really seem to care that much... “It's about experiences more than school...” one of the dads nods...
Home in temps climbing into mid 70s... a sheaf of electric green in the hedge and a shock of yellow under the kitchen window...
Two hours at home... more dishes and laundry and printing Harry Potter minifig shirts for Yali's many character revamps...
Meanwhile Oxbear – busy on calls – has been rubbing the disco ball mirrors with acetone to shine it up for Puck... “Well now he's going to get brain damage...” Puck notes with a smothered smile at how crazy he thinks his father is as he prepares for another shift at work...
And once again back out in costume this time for performance number eight at a middle school in Ballwin... Patience pops around on the stage with the other girls one more time at “Culture Fest”... somehow she isn't feeling tired, only hungry...
Back home she joins me in a tray of sushi that Oxbear grabbed earlier when he knew it would be another long day for us...
...while Yali is busy hauling 18-lb. bags of cat litter to the basement – feeling very strong and important – and researches red shoes online for a One-Punch Man costume...
