Summer Break Day #53

  • Puck harvests the first cucumber and tomato from his garden; Oxbear pays him for the produce; summer business
  • Yali and Patience play for an extended period of time with avocado pits, washing them in the bathroom sink, laughing about how slippery they are
  • The remainder of the half-dead tree is felled mid-afternoon with a family crew of about six people in the yard
  • While the tree comes down, Yali and Patience play a long game of “hot lava” around the house inside
  • Patience is caught eating sugar out of the bag, mid-afternoon; tries to sweep up the lingering evidence without being noticed
  • After dinner, Patience floods the upstairs bathroom which also floods the basement so badly that Oxbear starts tearing out chunks of soggy ceiling; four year-old single-handedly destroys basement with one flush

When Patience’s Kindle was found cracked on the floor for about the third time that morning, she stomped off in an angry rage to her room and climbed into her bunk…

“Puck stepped on it!” she wildly, and groundlessly, concluded.

“He didn’t step on it, Patience. But you can’t leave Kindles on the floor.”

“He DID step on it! I don’t have big feet! See!”
