Summer Day #007
- Yali spends about an hour debating whether or not he wants me to pull a splinter out of his little toe
- I discover Patience sharpening her scented drawing pencils with my eye pencil sharpener
- Yali and Patience painstakingly empty about half a bottle of glue onto a single sheet of paper for an afternoon art project
- Both cats continue to systematically shred my sunset roses, for no apparent reason other than general destruction

Yali, on his splinter…
“Oh. It’s still in there.” *throws himself backwards on my bed. “I feel the pain” *stares at the ceiling for awhile* “I should have worn a shoe. Not a sock.”

Yali : “Hey, Mom, check this out! Alexa knows what a chimichango is! She knows everything about chimichangos!… Patience! Alexa knows everything about chimichangos and steaks and chicken and carrots! She knows everything about food! WHOO! Hey, Alexa. What is water?… Hey Alexa, what is a shark? Whoo! Whoo-hoo! Whoo! Hey Alexa, what is a police officer?” *begins imitating police sirens*
