Summer, Day 08

Puck wanted to watch the sun set from the roof that evening, so I let him climb up there with his Amazon Kindle. A little while later, he stomped on the roof, so I came out to see what he needed.

“Here, Mom. Can you take my Kindle? Catch!”

I grabbed the device as he chucked it over the side. Hearing dog tags rattle, I turned around to see a young couple walking their dog, staring at me in my paint clothes like I was crazy for letting my ten year-old walk on the roof, hurtling pieces of technology from the shingles.

“Hey, Mom. Can you toss me up that box of dried pasta? I’m hungry.”
