Saturday afternoon they had sat around, Carrie-Bri, Rose, and herself, to watch another Midsommer Murders over a shared plate of crispy bacon with two small forks for tongs. And then they made plans for the evening, which included as the centerpiece – “Phantom of the Opera”.
Collette found herself in a dream that night as they sat in the theater. Eve and Carrie-Bri had discussed the latest couples, fashions, ideas, and happenings on the way to Chesterfield Valley. Upon arrival at “The Galaxy” – the mega screen of movie theaters – they purchased their tickets, noting the new digital screen at the box office. Then Collette and OLeif went off to purchase snacks while Eve and Carrie found seats in the theater. Soon there were chocolate covered nuts and chocolate peanut butter balls, plus a lemonade apiece for Collette and Eve.
As they walked into the theater, a mammoth wall loomed up before them where the screen sat a good level down from the top where a panel of red preceded it. It seemed as if one was walking into an opera house. They sat for only a short time and the lights soon dimmed.
Upon its beginning, Collette found herself growing tight. It was as if a dream of a time past was being relived in front of her. Somehow it seemed she had been there before, as a great loneliness flooded the screen. They all agreed that it was good, and that, surprisingly, Raul’s voice seemed to be the best out of the cast. But Collette had enjoyed the old dream-like mist it had brought to her. It was a strange but compelling thought throughout the film – a very enjoyable production, all together – she thought.
The sun was purely bronze that morning – the sort of sun that might shine off Mt. Olympus to greet the gods. And all was bitter cold. Even the afternoon before had brought a punch so cold, it knocked one in the chest upon going outside.
