In which the first of summer fruits is opened…
It looked to be a hot number of days coming up.
Collette opened her eyes to see a big-smiling Puck standing over her, like something out of Wallace & Gromit.
Breakfast included discussion of the events for the rest of the week…
“And Saturday,” said Puck, “I’m going to be at the theaters!”
[There was a possibility of viewing Cars 2.]
Then, with Charlotte Church belting it out over the antiquated boom box system in the living room…
“Dance with me, Mama,” he said, with a slow head rock.
And…
“My little brother just boomed out of the Colombia. I’m just pretending. He went up to a different Heaven. He went up to God’s Heaven.”
[Apparently, he was off visiting for the morning…]
The day continued with…
A request for research letter off to the Illinois State Archives on Great Uncle Harry’s behalf regarding the continued Hamilton line of research.
A sturdy twig as temporary fix for the lost pegs in the mailbox lid after the spring storms…
“Let’s get some shunshine,” Puck said, sitting in the patch of it on the kitchen floor.
And while Collette prepared lunch and brought out the butter…
“Could I have one big chonk for myself?” Puck asked. “That is the delicious butter ever. Could I have another chonk? It’s delicious.”
What he got even more excited about was the fresh, cold watermelon spears for dessert that evening. It was a pair of greedy eyes set on that fat green delectable on the kitchen counter.
And other commentary…
“Mama. Know what? Years ago. I said I don’t want to eat with your fork again. I want you to keep it.”
