Taiwan & Nepal

Friday had been a quiet day at the office. For Carrie there was a Napali tattoo and for the entire English family there was a grand welcome to the littlest one, Jules Verne.

Storm clouds threatened in the skies and after work, Mom, Collette, Francis, and Linnea met Dad down at Kayak’s Coffee House for some good drinks. Linnea looked at the Pleasant Company catalog on the way back home, keeping eye on her bag of green acorns, to be sure they did not spill.

Meanwhile, Carrie and Elizabeth were to pick up Mrs. Showers from the airport and take her to dinner afterward.

And Mom loved her new and improved basement space, again being able to venture down into the once-dreaded abode.

And Collette set her mind to many things that evening, preparing to go back to a week of work and new things once the short weekend had ended.

Then there was Steak ‘n Shake with good laughs and talks as a great blue storm drifted in from the west in a most spectacular fashion through the windows. On the way home, Dad selected movies at Blockbuster while Mom did a little shopping at Target and Linnea, Francis, and Collette discussed Jesus and Heaven.

At the house as the rain poured and the lightening flashed and candles flickered, Dad momentarily retired to his special place while Mom, Collette, Francis, and Linnea sang and clapped to old favorites on the front porch, including: “I’m Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover”, “You’re My Rock, My Sword, My Shield”, and “There’s an Old Spinning Wheel in the Parlor”.

And later, as the rain pounded and “Prince of Thieves” played for movie night over old-fashioned bags of popcorn, Elizabeth and Carrie returned bearing goods from the mall.

Well, Dad, what do you think?” Carrie waved her new tattoo in front of Dad.

Dad tried not to smile.

I don’t.”
