That's More Like It

The storms were really crashing through at around 4:30 that morning, scratching Collette out of the usual dozens of dreams, one involving purchasing Dr. Pepper and peanut M’nMs for 83 cents at a grocery store attached to a reception hall for one of the wedding guests, before being smuggle-kidnapped into cave country…
When Puck drew the shades a couple of hours later…
“It’s fun to watch the rain, don’t you think?… Cool things are happening in St. Louis. Like Redbox… and Netflix… and Redbox is happening…”
Another one right out of left field.
Before OLeif split for the License Bureau that morning, he warned Puck to behave while he was gone…
“Now listen to me with all your ears. Are all your ears listening?”
This was followed about an hour later – Collette had to remind Puck to be gentle with ladies, as they did not rough-house the same way as guys…
“Just pretend I’m a china teacup,” she told him, unable to think of a better analogy at the time…
“But I can’t, Mama,” he replied seriously. “Because I would fall into you.”
OLeif returned with a sore throat, upset stomach, and a coffee, before resuming writing papers, listening to lectures, and reading texts.
Rose checked in at near eleven.
She had been working in Illinois late after the movie, and didn’t return to nearly two in the morning. Purchasing a lounging laughing Buddha butter dish, however, had helped to appease the odd night.
The sun parsed out the clouds in a sluggish way after one o’clock.
A quiet afternoon.
OLeif chugging away in his library.
Collette and Puck caught a delayed game until Puck got busy testing the length of the basement stairs with an expandable tent pole, a plastic green bowl, one of Kitts’ bean bags, and a TV antennae…
“I want to test this ‘experient’, Dad.”
Joe popped in to pick up OLeif’s old cell phone as Pooch wanted to buy it. He chatted briefly with OLeif before departing for Pooch’s.
Once OLeif reached a break at five, he toted Puck off to pick up Chick-fil-A for a later dinner.
Followed by a “rough-house”.
An invitation to Hesed’s 2nd birthday party and another Cardinal’s Gameday Magazine in the mail.
OLeif switched on mariachi band music as Puck went down for the night.
Violet in the southwest.
Cards victory, and Tony La Russa back in town.
A much-improved day.
