The Company We Keep

We sat around the television in the basement that evening for dinner. Puck had received a DVD TV collection of “Top Cat” from Curly and Lulu for his birthday, and he was deep into the second episode when an ant crawled across the screen of my laptop.

“Boys, you’ve got to stop leaving dirty laundry and food down here. The ants and spiders are starting to join us.”

Oxbear looked back at me with a blank face. “No, they just like the shows we watch.”
