The Pecking Patrol Returns

In which the morning begins with squawking birds and annoying basement drains…
After a slice of bread and two hotdog buns shared between them, the chickens were sunning themselves in a clump by the back fence. Plans were made. Capture was imminent.
In other creature news, Carrie was uncertain if she would be able to give up Bon and Lon after the holidays. This seemed even more certain now that she had renamed them: Bonnie Bell Blue (Sweet Clover)” and “Hamish The Nor’Eastern Tooth”.
And then the main drain backed up. Again.
Eight months early…
The boys took off to meet with Kitts for lunch while Collette got some more work done.
Meanwhile, reports from the house…
Lady Plum wanted to take home the chickens to roost with her own. Apparently owning chickens in Wentzville was illegal, so…
Mom, Dad, and Joe were headed off to Wally’s 4:00 commissioning in Rolla.
Rose had spent the night due to the lateness of the hour.
Linnea was at the art museum with Gretyl.
Grandma Snicketts was recovering well.
And on Friday, Collette had received early birthday gifts from Grandma Combs. These included a healthy bundle of the green, an ivory candle, journal and bookmarks, and a scarf in black and white.
And for the evening, OLeif was to play with the adult choir performance at church, which was followed with a cookie/brownie/chocolate reception with punch. Unfortunately, as they drove towards the church, about half-way there…
“What are you wearing?” Collette asked him.
Painters-jeans and a nondescript plaid-ish collared shirt.
This would not do.
So while OLeif employed himself in a two-hour rehearsal, Collette and Puck returned to the house to scrounge up OLeif’s old brown suit. Although, as Mollie noted later…
“He kind of looks like a homeless man, dressed up.”
And for the first time in awhile, Collette heard OLeif play something not so ‘fiddlish’.
On the way home, by way of excuse for chicken nuggets, OLeif treated Collette to another gift of a special edition Cardinals World Series DVD, including ticket voucher.
And Puck managed to be in bed before ten.
