The Unspoken Silence

In which work is done…
First to the house…
Francis had called Wednesday night from base camp. Apparently, and, hardly surprising, he had not changed his clothes once during the entire 75 miles and ten days, or so. He was due to arrive home the following afternoon.
Back to the old grind.
Sort of.
Things were even more quiet that week. Sinai in Ohio. Judah still in New York. Isabella was never in on Thursdays and Fridays… Daisy-Jean was in quarantine due to radioactive thyroid cancer scan pills; poor Daisy-Jean. And so it was just Collette and Ben-Hur until Henri showed up early, surprisingly.
Shortly later, one of their resident missionaries dropped in with a card for Daisy-Jean and to briefly discuss his upcoming trip to Rwanda, in ten days.
The days weighed strangely over the church…
Back to the house, where…
Mom had taken Linnea to the doctor.
Carrie and Puck were listening to Spirited Away in music-box arrangement while preparing apple crisp.
And Joe, in his new bluetooth headset, proposed the possibility of riding his bike on Highway 94.
Dad had given Puck his old wallet, which delighted the big buster. He would not part from it even after going down to bed for the night. This was also accompanied by a green-eyed cat sticker from Linnea, which she obtained at the doctor’s.
A summery Peruvian tunic in thick stripes of orange, red, and blues arrived in the mail for Carrie. Collette’s sisters certainly knew how to effectively milk the Victoria’s Secret sales for all they were worth.
And Collette continued to nurse the inside of her cheek, turned cankerous in the last days.
On the way home…
“Mama, I scraped that ant right off of me. He was looking for a pipe to stuck the blood out of me. But no pipes. No pipes of all.”
The imagination of a four year-old boy…
OLeif’s guys’ night had been temporarily switched to Thursdays, due to one of his pals ramping up for another album release, or some other such thing, with John Hardy & The Public. However, this particular Thursday the gathering had been canceled, due to Chet Danger attending the rehearsal dinner of his sister-in-law, who was due to marry a Hindu over the weekend…
The evening?
Typage.
Cosby.
Sermons.
And OLeif studied for his midterm.
