Theodore's Birthday
Monday, October 11, 2010
It looked to be a sort of quiet start to that October week…
Puck played with his hand-knit Peruvian ‘Pup’ all morning long, and examined a giant brown moth hanging out on the living room window screen.
Another part of the morning was reserved for consult with Joe regarding upcoming academic alterations, including a possible Associates degree in Graphic Design, a Bachelors in Business, and a Masters in Business Administration, to be completed within the following two and a half years.
Puck tried singing along with his CD for the Christmas program. He was making progressive improvements, despite not officially grasping the idea of tones yet.
The day was mild, half-gray; some of the trees had burst bright yellow in the night, it seemed. The colors were looking more promising.
It was Theodore’s 62nd birthday, and so over to the Silverspoon’s for celebration after picking up the traditional two cigars for the birthday gift.
After a month, Theodore’s fingers were still bandaged and healing.
While they waited for the grilling to be finished, Theodore read library books to Puck.
Gloria had everything ready: steaks, chicken, potatoes, grilled tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, and onions. And then apple pie and vanilla ice cream (on which OLeif sprinkled some cardamom spice).
But Puck was far less interested in the food as he was in the three balloons, which his Uncle Izzy, blew up for him.
“Come play a game with me called ‘Balloon’!” Puck called to his mama.
Theodore was also being gifted a new sports jacket, which he had yet to pick out.
