Thunder in February

Flash.

“WHOA! MOM! DID YOU SEE THAT?!”

Lightning had returned in the balmy morning of early February. A storm was always an exciting thing, but in winter it was even more special, considering the season.

A roll of dark gray passed over the house with some wind and a little rain. Thunder growled once or twice as the boys ran out the side door to enjoy the spectacle before we left for school. A few moments later, they returned, Puck fully energized.

“Mom, I just love how it’s lighter over there and it’s about to be consumed by the darkness! Isn’t that a great feeling?”

A St. Louis Snicketts kid if I ever heard one.
