Under the Sea

Sunday, July 18, 2010

As soon as they were settled in church that morning, the storm hit. A downpour that sounded initially something like applause. Collette could see it coming in from the west: a dark fold. Cracks of lightening. A nice change for a Sunday morning.

The Pie family was back in town, and Scott was preaching and leading the Sunday School. Cherry spoke briefly to OLeif about Doctor Who and about how Linnea-Irish had abandoned her for the family reunion…

It was time for a field trip.

To the Science Center. It was Puck’s first time. And, as a special treat, the three went to Under the Sea at the Omnimax. Puck was pretty enthralled with the whole idea, and sat comfortably for most of the movie, watching cuttlefish nab unsuspecting prey between the fingers over his eyes. After the fourth nabbing however, Puck sat up from his seat and announced, “Let’s go!”

And Collette left having learned two important things:

A: Sea snakes were slowing dwindling in numbers… couldn’t say

she was all that upset about that one…

And

B: It would cost $1,006,000 to launch her into space. Only

$380,000 for the Puckerton.

Home to continue the mini family holiday with a bake-it-yourself pizza, strawberry soda (apple juice for Puck, of course), and more BallyK and a documentary on 1,000-pound stingrays.
