Unearthed

Friday – they were going to try and plant the flower bulbs from Holland in the front yard before the first frost. Mom, Collette, Rose, Frances, Linnea, and Puck. It soon became a job too big for hands and trowels. Even the shovels didn’t quite cut the mustard, so they would wait until a tiller was ready the following week. In the meantime, Linnea found several pieces of glass in the front yard, a piece of cement growing inside the tree, and beer caps from the previous Mexican inhabitants. One piece bore a hole through its center.

“I’ll make a necklace out of it,” Linnea grinned.

Mom put the kabosh on that one. And while the crew watched some Green Acres, they pulled out the cheese stuffed crust pizzas and drumsticks for lunch. And Rose studied for her various exams.

Around 2:30, they returned to prepare for Tor’s surprise 16th birthday party at Klondike Park. So Collette and Puck played in the living room. Puck laughed circles around the laundry basket sitting in the middle of the rug. He giggled with his mouth open wide in happiness. Sometimes he curled his tongue up to the corner of his lip and laughed even harder at his new found friend: Empty Laundry Basket. Then he attacked the little pink circle pillow in the couch. During dinner, as usual, he hummed loudly to himself during food inhalation.
