What's Coming

Kitts had just come into town for a week from Austin, Texas.

Puck spent part of his afternoon staring out of the living room window and licking his fist like an ice cream cone after his mid-afternoon snack. It seemed as though he was hungrily eying the giant bumblebees buzzing under the eaves. Collette had to explain to him that they were not for eating.

Then Malaya dropped by the house to hold him for awhile. Puck enjoyed watching a new face and cooed at her.

Meanwhile, according to Rose, whichever gang she had tagged along with the previous evening, had ended up once again gracing the halls of Steak ‘n Shake for more wild and crazy fun. Apparently there had been some unofficial eating chili pepper contests which had literally reduced Tor to tears. Rose, however, boasted proudly to Collette that she had not cried upon swallowing the pepper.

Later that evening, Kitts and Carrie-Bri dropped in to see the Puck. After he had calmed himself a bit (being at a fussy point of his day), he let Kitts hold him and stared at her wide-eyed in wonder. Another new face and another new show to put on for the day where the grand finale was his falling into dreamland.

Then the girls headed out. Carrie had an appointment to meet a potential new employer regarding painting houses to finish paying for Australia.

And OLeif spent part of his night playing The Incredible Hulk with Puck once it was time to give him his late night bottle.

There was a busy weekend coming up in a few days. Diana would be home the following day, taking a three-day weekend to catch up with the new things going on in her family and to play with the quartet for Polly’s wedding.

OLeif was meant to attend a wedding rehearsal for Peter’s wedding that Friday night. However, no one really knew anything about the plans.

“We’ve been so in the dark about all of this,” Malaya had chuckled a little while holding Puck earlier. “Shepherd didn’t know he was Peter’s best man until I told him.”

So if anyone ever found out what was going on, they would all gather at 1st Baptist the following afternoon for a wedding that was predicted to be a little on the odd side of things. Peter had always talked about wanting to fence his best man down the aisle. But Collette could not picture Shepherd ever consenting to such a thing. A potluck reception would follow.

Then, Carrie had been invited to Thor’s graduation ceremony. However the likelihood of her being able to attend was remote, due to the busyness of the day.

And then Polly, at a few days before 27, was marrying her Fernando down by the fountains in New Town. The weather was forecasted to be very pleasant. For once, Collette did not hope that the day would be storming. It promised to be a large, rather elegant wedding, from the rumors. And then Polly and Fernando would be off on their “exotic honeymoon” (wherever that was meant to be), followed by a packing up and returning to their new home in New York.

It looked like fun days ahead.
