Will it Never End?

Busy-ness.
Tuesday evening, Linnea had been learning manners at American Heritage Girls for her etiquette merit badge. Rose was at class while Joe took off to Culver’s for dinner where part of all dinner proceeds were going to aid a youth mission trip (where Joe’s friend from choir and work was participating). Carrie was at a uniform fitting at Columns. And Collette was at home packing her and OLeif’s four tons of books. She also had bought a small peppermint plant that afternoon to put in the kitchen.
Wednesday morning, Dad and Collette had some time to talk with Rose about things between picking her up from class and dropping her off at work for several hours. This was after Dad drove through Starbucks and treated them all to large hot chocolates.
Meanwhile, Joe was at work all day and Mom took Frances and Linnea with her to Frances’ orthodontist appointment. Apparently he was far enough along in the braces process to now have some teeth pulled.
And Carrie was interviewed twice and got the job at NAWS, to begin officially the following Tuesday. She returned with a pile of paperwork, a bag from Plato’s Closet, and a Babe Ruth candy bar.
“Ooooh,” she moaned, biting into it. “I have an exposed nerve or something,” and subsequently offered most of the rest of the candy bar to any willing taker.
Meanwhile, Dad was excited to hear that he no longer had to pay her insurance, now that she would receive full-time benefits.
And Collette worked on her Italian while waiting for Rose to finish her shift at Subway.
The afternoon was still gray and cold. Collette looked over several red couches and began the first course of training Rose in time management by supervising her purchase (or rather, Mom’s purchase for Rose) of a day-timer which would require her to catalog the activities of every fifteen minutes. Rose also added a box of 36 black pens and a box of Polaroid film to that order, before Mom, Rose, and Linnea dropped off Collette back at the apartment.
This was also after they had picked up Linnea from choir, who ran out giggling to the van, trying to beat Rose to the door.
“I won,” she laughed, her dimples showing, as always.
They both hopped in the car, and Rose, who had insisted on going inside to get a drink (they assuming she would only be dropping by the drinking fountain), had returned with a package of blueberry sour straws. To share.
Lucia also had an interview at NAWS later that afternoon, and would finish with her second interview the following day.
Mom had plans to spend a quiet evening over her calendar and a viewing of Gone with the Wind, while everyone else went about their nightly activities.
And Dad was looking at possibly flying out to North Carolina that very Sunday afternoon, leaving for the airport after teaching Sunday School that morning. He would be a busy dad for a number of weeks, if all went as planned.
OLeif was out late that evening running more errands while Collette packed.
How busy everyone could be in a day! And that was just OLeif, Collette, and her family. The comings and goings and various activities around town added up to be a crazy schedule.
