Wind-Down

Saturday saw a hearty breakfast for Collette, Frances, and Linnea after they had spent the night at the apartment, and fairer skies. “Spring clouds” as Mom had said. She treated Collette and Linnea to nachos later in the morning after Collette had dropped off her charges for Frances to mow the lawn. And Linnea purchased a special book on carving intricately-designed pumpkins, three months early.

A quiet sort of day…

The crew was to return at 9:00 the next night after having camped out in Jackson, Mississippi, the night before. Seeing that almost all the clowns had left town all that week, Collette wondered what it would be like again upon their return with stories, pictures, jokes, nicknames, and empty soda cans.
