Winter Lightening

Saturday, December 27, 2008

The last Saturday of the year found OLeif, Collette, and Puck over at the Silverspoon’s again for the day.
Similar to Friday, the morning was amazingly spring-like. During the night, Collette heard the wind whipping around the house, and in the morning the wind still thrashed the gray-violet skies. Friday had been so un-December-like, that the temperatures seemed completely neutral, not warm nor cool.
Puck spent his morning out and about, while OLeif and Collette tried to take care of the title information on the red Civic at the DMV (where they also saw Johnny T. Grape (who was visiting from California with his wife) and his dad). As usual, there was some extra documentation necessary, which, according to OLeif, somehow managed to happen every time they had made a car-switch. So instead, they finished other errands, including a run to Target for Plum mulled cider spices, electric green note cards, two new tops, patterned leather gloves, and a black belt for Collette, and a pocketbook two-year scheduler for writing her next book. While they walked through the aisles, OLeif made clothing suggestions for Collette and read Metamorphoses on his iPhone.
By this point in the day, the storms were beginning to tumble, tornado watches, tornado warnings, etc. Collette wore her sunnies, watching the enhanced contrast of the low, swift-running clouds against the soaring piles of inky monsters above them.
Puck enjoyed lunch watching his uncles play Munchkin while the stormy winds swept through the open windows of the kitchen. Lightening flashed, and thunder roared. Rain hurled from the skies. It was a good day.
