In which the rain finally arrives…
Bit of a rough night…
OLeif returned at 1:39am, waking Collette so suddenly that a stomachache was the result, followed by the return of semi-intense pain in her leg, nucleizing in the knee.
Before 5:30, Puck also woke with leg pain.
But they officially woke later, no worse for wear.
Collette’s voice was in the basement for some inexplicable reason that morning.
There was the novelty of learning that George Washington, though illegitimately, might be Collette’s 6th great-grandfather. Oh, the horrors of hushed 18th century sins…
Honda — oil change.
As they waited over a stack of Little Bear, the skies began to change.
Puck got his bag of popcorn. OLeif listened to lectures for school over a cup of coffee. Puck looked through the panels of color options and then saw the 1972 tangerine Honda coupe in the corner — advertised for years it would seem…
“Could I buy that some day, Daddy?”
“Some day if you save your money.”
“Twenty dollars?”
“More than that.”
“Three dollars?”
“More than that.”
“So much dollars!”
“There you go.”
When they walked out, the ‘rush storm’ was over them, spitting lightening, racing in from the southwest.
“They’re like boss storms,” said Puck. “They are bosses. They are half enough to fill a pillow.”
As they drove through Cottleville towards the post office, the rain finally split. And kept coming. If not heavy, at least it was coming. And beautiful.
At the Silverspoon’s, as the rain continued to fall…
Theodore was on a personal vacation to Texas and a cabin in Colorado.
Gloria and Izzy were out potentially buying a Protege for Izzy’s first car.
Puck found the bananas, and had snagged himself a chocolate cupcake at the dealership.
OLeif made up some burgers.
Gloria and Izzy returned for Puck to bounce around on Izzy’s shoulders.
Taco salad.
Heavy rain.
Puck out with his nana, returned with a bag of Skittles…
“Daddy! I got these for your very own; do you need help eating them?”
“I do!”
They slapped a high five.
Books with Nana and a glass of sparkling lime juice, wrapped in a blanket patterned in colorful Classical buildings.
Muggy.
Izzy gone at 3:30 for an engagement photo shoot in Tower Grove Park.
Giant watermelon.
Garrison Keeler.
And the heat warning had been extended till Wednesday.
In other news…
The Ryes had returned from their MTW month in New York City.
