Word from the Pacific

Puck sat in his bouncy seat while Collette worked in the kitchen that morning, washing dishes, sterilizing his armada of bottles, scrubbing the counters, and slicing cantaloupe.

Want a taste of this, Puck?”

Puck threw his arms up in the air in affirmation. Collette brushed her finger over a piece of the cantaloupe and let Puck lick the juice. Not surprisingly, he liked it.

While Collette continued to clean the kitchen, Puck began his happy baby dance. Something had caught his fancy on the wall. It was the packages of Egyptian spices hanging from a hook, which Carrie-Bri had brought back for Colette. Apparently, he thought they were very funny and smiled at them.

And so the boys were officially off to Hawaii. Soon, flower leis would be draped around their necks in greeting at the airport. And they would all be embarrassed.

That night, Rose had plans to go to the movies (likely with Shakespeare and Augustus). They were going for the revealing of the 5th Harry Potter film – “The Order of the Phoenix”. Before they went to the 11:59p show, however, OLeif met with them for coffee. He and Collette decided that they would try to catch the movie on Friday night instead.

In other news, it was Violet Gentle’s third anniversary. Funny, again, how quickly time passed.

Word from Carrie was that New Zealand was amazing. And very cold. 4 degrees Celsius – about 39 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to giving the second-highest bungee jump in the world a try, (apparently the one in Australia was fun, although not terribly exciting), she would be taking a “Lord of the Rings” tour and attending a rugby game.

She had also decided to join some tours. Although they cost a little more, she decided that they would be the best way to view the country because she was backpacking alone.

Joe called two or three times throughout his journey to the Pacific. He loved Hawaii so much already that he “might not want to come home”. The waters were so clear, he could see things swimming around beneath them as their plane landed. The air, he said, was perfumed from all the flowers.

And for the rest of Collette’s evening, she watched Puck slurp away on his fingers.
