Summer Break Day #61

  • Wake from long, rapid dreams where the virus made all clocks wrong, which ultimately canceled my flight to Uppsala, Sweden, the following morning; too risky apparently
  • I grab Yali and Patience from the Big House where they’d been busy making monkey bread and crafting pink “bubblegum” slime with Carrie-Bri
  • Yali ties an obnoxiously crinkly silver emergency blanket around his neck and bikes around the yard as “The Tornado”
  • Gigantic storm blows in during the late afternoon, as Patience blows through the room wearing an orange plastic whistle over a sundress printed in pineapples wearing sunglasses, and Yali squeaks high-pitched sounds wearing a Chinese emperor costume who begins hammering a two-and-a-half-inch nail through a roll of paper towels because he was “pretending I’m on an island building a treehouse”…
  • Join Mom and Carrie-Bri at the Big House; discuss the funny past of our Midwest diet, growing up in the 80s and 90s

Patience’s current-favorite compliment to give me…

“Mom, you’re so good at driving.”
