69 : And Still More

One last day to gut the house of everything no longer needed or wanted. And, surprisingly, Oxbear wasn’t disappointed to use three of his vacation days on the whole project.

“This is actually one of the best vacations I’ve ever had,” he announced Tuesday evening after dinner.

Another lunch break with “Midsomer Murders”. Oxbear joined me with some burgers and a box of fries to share. When I’d lightly protested the excessive eating out this week, he just had one thought for me.

“But this is my vacation!”

So much for the Grand Canyon.

When everything was finally finished, the garage was stuffed almost to bursting with giant trash bags destined for smelly lands, the last boxes had been packed down to the basement, and one more Goodwill load was hauled out to the Mazda, we called our vacation a success.

“The guys at Goodwill recognize me now,” Oxbear admitted as we cruised down the highway.

Off to pick up the boys.

Puck, enjoying his own version of excess during the week under the loving care of not one, but two, grandmas, had retired to the back room with a headache and a stomachache. However, he didn’t feel bad enough to pass on a plate of pork chops, carrots, bananas, and muffins for dinner. And of course an episode of “Phineas & Ferb” back home before bed, after he had assured himself that his room still contained at least some of his toys.
