Feis Day 2

Wake with a nosebleed a little after six o'clock...

Fifteen minutes later unweave all of Patience's braids for competition, leaving what we call “the lion's mane”... wearing all black today... she and Oxbear leave by seven o'clock under a thin crunch of fresh snow...

Yali and I sit together for our Lutheran service online... the dog joins us hoping for scraps of toast...

Patience is already finished with her first competition by eight-twenty... “looked good to me” Oxbear texts me, which is our way of saying to each other : “Even after four years I have no real idea what I'm looking at and it doesn't matter anyway because Irish dance judging is probably the most subjective system I've personally ever encountered...” (Irish dance can be a weird – but always fun – universe)...

After church, Yali games online with cousin Ja for several hours...

Meanwhile Puck is all wrapped up with his cat and blankets because he doesn't work till the afternoon...

And the snow hasn't completely finished by the end of the morning... still little falling stars...

Patience's full results from day two of competition continue to frustrate her, with a 3rd, 4th, and another 4th place (only 1sts advance at this level)... she still somehow leaves the competition as the most decorated champ from her dance school that weekend... intense competition... and she had a good time doing it...

Puck leaves for five hours in Produce... wondering how bad the crowds would be before another “snow-pocalypse”...

Fold two loads of laundry before Oxbear and Patience return to help with the house... everything explodes a lot more when Mama is down for a few days...

Bringing in Little Caesar's for dinner... somehow Eugene Levy convinced me it was a good idea...”But Eugene... I just got over the flu...”

Cuddle with Yali and Patience to watch the BBC's 1988 version of “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” at Yali's request while ordering an Irish dance practice journal for Patience...

Arctic wastes skies in the west... bringing up to ten inches of snow in two days...
