Something New

The Silverspoon’s were hosting the inaugural “Relatively Young Person’s Gathering & Bible Study” at six o’clock that evening. A very girl-heavy group sat in a contorted circle of chairs in the basement for one hour, re-introducing themselves to the book of Ephesians.

It was a diverse collection of humanity. From the Systems Administrator and the Pianist, to the Nursing and Accounting majors, to a couple of high school students and the Librarian writing and illustrating a Scandinavian-based graphic novel. I guess when they advertised ages 16 to 30, they got what they were asking for. Although…

“This whole half of the room is related,” Izzy pointed out.

That’s usually what happens around here.

Anyway, following the hour study, I checked in on the game downtown while Gloria offered to stuff everyone with homemade guacamole and sweet potato chips, which many of them did.

I didn’t pay much attention to the mingling conversations around the counter for the most part – tense ending to another important game and all – but when I did look up, I just heard Rose.

“Yeah, if one of my friends gets pregnant, I block their posts on Facebook. I don’t want to hear about that!”

I think this gathering was successful.
