42 : Looks Great

“Want us to bring the boys back with us so the house doesn’t get destroyed?” Carrie-Bri asked me.

I had just returned with Puck and Yali from Art Camp up at school. As we pulled up, Mom and Carrie were leaving our house, after putting in a little extra cleaning/painting muscle in the last few hours before the photographer arrived.

“It’s that pristine in there, eh?” I asked.

“It’s pretty clean.”

I wasn’t about to mess with that. So, in lieu of putting all that hard work to waste, Puck opted to stay in the basement for bacon cheeseburgers and Pixar’s “Brave” while Yali – who is not so easy to contain – returned to the Big House with Mom and Carrie for the rest of the afternoon.

“Looks great. We’ll get a sign in the front yard tomorrow.”

Oxbear and I sat at our little kitchen table with the realtor a couple of hours later, signing the last of a relatively thin stack of paperwork. Our house would go on the market, Friday.

“Hopefully we’ll have an offer by the end of the weekend. So you all clear out for a few days and I’ll let you know.”

Clear out to Theodore’s and Gloria’s, that is. That’s sure to only increase the daily average volume by about fifty decibels.

When Mom and Carrie returned with Yali after four o’clock, Yali hopped out of the car wearing the smallest t-shirt Carrie could find. But the black and gold Mizzou shirt was a dress on him.

“He played in the hose,” Carrie explained.

Then Puck filled them in on his adventures at Art Camp, Day One. His eyes lit up.

“We all get to make our own emoji out of cloth! We get to stitch it ourselves! I’m going to make a purple poop!”

“Well…” said Carrie, checking out Mom’s reaction to that one, “When you’re around Grandma, maybe you should call it an ‘ice cream topper’ instead.”

Puck grinned; he knew. “But they don’t make purple ice cream, Sun!”

Some not so great news that rolled in during the evening was learning that Yadi had been snubbed as starting All Star catcher for the All Star game in San Diego next week. Again. Not a good day in the neighborhood. But it’s okay. We all know he’s the best.
